EU CBAM Transitional Filing Essentials: Steel Exporters Must Track Carbon Emissions Data
During the transitional period, exporters must provide embedded carbon emissions data for products, and production routes and energy consumption statistics need to be prepared in advance.
EU CBAM Transitional Filing Essentials: Steel Exporters Must Track Carbon Emissions Data
During the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) transitional period, steel exported to the EU must report product embedded carbon emissions data quarterly. For exporting companies, preparing the data is often harder than the filing itself.
What Data Must Be Prepared
- Production route (blast furnace – converter / electric furnace) and process energy consumption
- Basis for calculating direct and indirect emissions
- Carbon emission intensity per unit weight of product
- Raw material and fuel consumption and power source description
Our Response
The company has organized process energy consumption and emission calculation standards by product line, and can provide corresponding data support materials during project negotiations to help customers complete filings. If customers have more granular calculation requirements, data boundaries and standards can be further negotiated.
